The frustration of fatty liver treatment
Recently we have received a number of inquiries about the treatment options for fatty liver. After being diagnosed with fatty liver disease, patients are often left with frustration, not sure what they can do to fix this problem. Like in many cases, doctors are unable to offer any clear treatment options apart from diet and exercise.
Why don’t doctors offer any treatment plans?
Though fatty liver is common, currently there is still no cure for the disease. That’s why most doctors can only offer the usual advice of regular exercise and healthy diet, and patients often have to rely on themselves to manage the problem. Because if fatty liver is not monitored or controlled, it can actually progress to serious liver problems.
While all these old-but-gold rules do help, patients are often left with plenty of frustration and thoughts – Is there more that I can do to reverse fatty liver?
Fatty liver is more than just fat
Many people are not fully aware of the potential danger of fatty liver. The excess fat in the liver can induce inflammation in the liver, which causes the disease to progress to NASH, liver cirrhosis, or even liver cancer. Therefore, the key to managing fatty liver and preventing the disease from progressing is to actively prevent liver inflammation.
Luckily fatty liver is entirely reversible. Though there is no medication that can clear up liver fat, there are ways we can prevent liver inflammation and help the liver to process fat faster. That’s why suitable management and prevention measures are highly necessary.
